Data protection — What data do we collect from you?

  1. We collect data from you ('user data') when you register as an SOI practitioner, or to receive updates from us. The data that we collect are clearly outlined in our 'Getting Involved Page' (available here: http://soundsofintent.org/get-involved).
  2. We also collect fully anonymised data about pupils and young people with special needs, and session observation data as mapped onto the SOI framework of musical development. These are also clearly outlined in our 'Getting Involved Page' (available here: http://soundsofintent.org/get-involved).
  3. Therefore, the data the SOI record are only personal data of consenting adult individuals who wish to become registered SOI practitioners, to which UK data protection laws apply. These terms and conditions and the data protection policy describe SOI's approach to fulfilling its obligations under those data protection laws.

Data protection — Our use of user data

  1. We will use user data we collect from you only in accordance with the following guidelines:
    1. to provide the updates to you: We will use user data to provide and improve our service to you, to notify you of any changes to our terms and conditions of use.
    2. to send you information about our other products and services if you so wish: from time to time, SOI, or third parties acting on SOI's behalf, may wish to send you information about other services which we offer and believe you may be interested in. We may use user data for this purpose. Data protection - Internally within SOI

  1. SOI may make user data available across the organisation or to nominated third party suppliers, either for the fulfilment of SOI's services, or to enable them to provide you with information about products or services which they believe you may be interested in.

Virus protection

  1. Although care is taken to check and test material at all stages of production, SOI cannot accept any responsibility for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or your computer system which may occur whilst using material derived from this website.

Postings and Data Recording

  1. You agree that you will not record data on the SOI website that allows individual pupils or young people to be identified.
  2. You agree that SOI has no responsibility about the safe-keeping of any data that you record on the SOI website and that individual users are solely responsible for backing session data up per non identifiable individual pupil, using the available raw data export tool.
  3. You agree that when you register a pupil onto the SOI website, you will be using an ALIAS, therefore ensuring that this person is not identifiable by yourself or your partners, outside any SOI related technology.
  4. You agree that you will not post material that contains content which is harmful, threatening, abusive, vulgar, obscene, harassing, defamatory, offensive (racially, sexually or ethnically), promotes a political view or is otherwise objectionable.
  5. You will not post or transmit chain letters, pyramid or money schemes.
  6. Material that you post must not contain links to sites that open up multiple windows or to sites that contain material that would fall within any of the above clauses.
  7. You agree that you will not post content, the display of which would infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. In particular, you represent and warrant that the content of your posting is original and not copied from any third party, without their express permission.
  8. You agree that you will not use postings to offer items or services for sale or place advertisements for goods, products or services of third parties.
  9. If you breach any of the provisions set out in this clause SOI may immediately terminate your use of the service.
  10. SOI reserves the right not to publish any material that you post in its absolute discretion.
  11. You consent to SOI editing any posting it receives from you for the sole purpose of formatting to make it legible.
  12. SOI reserves the right to perform statistical analyses of session data that you record on the website, as well as demographic statistical analyses of non identifiable individual pupils based on condition, age, ethnicity and/or musical development.
